President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Alley of national heroes at Victory Park.
This memorial, created on the initiative of the Head of our state, is dedicated to the memory of servicemen and law enforcement officers who gave their lives for the defense of our country during the years of independence.
From a height, the complex appears in the form of a crescent moon and twelve stars, as on the national flag of Uzbekistan. The ribs of the stars are about two meters high and serve as memorial plates on which the names of 196 heroes are engraved in gold letters. Next to them, monitors have been installed on which photo and video materials about the lives of these people are presented: their childhood, dreams, service, families. Not just names come to life here - the human history of each of them is presented before us.
The crescent moon gives the alley the shape of a compact amphitheater, with water flowing from its upper part - a symbol of purity. The artistic concept is completed by a sculptural composition: the center depicts parents seeing their son off to military service. On the sides are figures of representatives of the Ministry of defense, the Ministry of internal affairs, the Ministry of emergency situations, the Supreme Court, the prosecutor's office, the State Security Service, the Customs Committee and the National Guard.
The President met with the families of the fallen servicemen.
— Each year we come here to recall the losses of the World War II. Today we also created this memorial – in remembrance of the fallen during the years of independence. This was a noble deed as they are also our national heroes. This is why this place has a special meaning. It's a reflection on one's identity, it's a respect for humanity, – noted Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The Head of State expressed deep respect for the families of the defenders of the Motherland.
— These brave sons of the people, without thinking about themselves, remained faithful to their duty and sacrificed themselves for the sake of people's peace. It is their great merit that today there is a peaceful sky over our country. Their families and loved ones should know that they are always with us, their names are in our hearts. I bow my head before the parents and spouses of these patriots. May their children be worthy of their heroic fathers, - said the President.
The need to hold commemorative events in the districts where national heroes were born, inform the younger generation about their courage, write pieces about their deeds that have become an example of selflessness was emphasized.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also visited the participants of World War II and labor front. At the meeting, the Head of State congratulated them on the occasion of the holiday.
— Firstly, I congratulate you and in your name all our esteemed veterans on the 80th anniversary of the Victory. On behalf of the entire nation I express my deep gratitude to you. Thanks to your heroism, today's generation lives in peace and prosperity. We must convey the value of this peace to the youth through you. Your whole life is an example for us, your every word is a great school, a source of wisdom. May God grant you good health and long life, so that you remain our pride and spiritual support, - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The veterans expressed gratitude for attention and respect for historical memory, for the care shown to the older generation, and recited dua.
In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated February 19, participants of war and labor front are given deserved respect. Participants and disabled veterans of World War II are paid a one-time cash award of $10 thousand equated persons - 25 million soums each, and participants of the labor front - 3 million soums each.
Many veterans were also awarded jubilee medals “80 years of Victory in World War II”.
Medical and social services, including patronage care, are organized for war veterans and invalids. At will, they are treated in sanatoriums.
With the participation of the heads of the relevant ministries, agencies, organizations and military units, veterans of war and labour, as well as the families of servicemen and law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty during the years of independence, are accompanied. They are provided with comprehensive support and assistance in everyday matters.
