In the framework of participation in the events of the anniversary session of the UNGA, on September 24 President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received at his residence a member of the United States Congress, chairman of the Parliamentary Caucus on cooperation with Uzbekistan at the House of Representatives Trent Kelly and Commanding General of the Mississippi Army major general Bobby Ginn.
Issues of further expanding Uzbek-American relations of strategic partnership, including strengthening interparliamentary dialogue, were reviewed.
The dynamic development of interparliamentary contacts and exchanges was noted with satisfaction. Members of the Senate and House of Representatives regularly visit Uzbekistan. Caucus on cooperation with Uzbekistan is actively working, its membership is growing. “Days of Uzbekistan” are held at the Congress annually, contributing to the strengthening of cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.
High assessment was given to the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties with the American state Mississippi.
The importance was emphasized on the Congress support in further enhancing strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the U.S., practical implementation of high-level agreements.
As a result of the meeting, it was agreed to organize visits of Congress delegation and business-mission of Mississippi state in the near term.
