In the recent years due to the creation of modern infrastructure in line with international standards, the city of Samarkand became a traditional platform for hosting the highest-level events – summits, international conferences and congresses.
Launched in 2022 at the initiative of the President the touristic complex “The Great Silk Road” became an important stage in strengthening the status of Samarkand as an international center and gave a new impetus to its development.
Today the Head of our state visited the International touristic center to get acquainted with the construction and improvement works conducted, as well as the new conditions created.
Currently a range of projects are being implemented at the complex aimed at expanding comfort and increasing the quality of service for foreign delegations and tourists.
In particular, a concert hall with high-quality acoustic equipment is being build in the territory of the center.
The President gave recommendations on creating additional amenities for hosting foreign delegations and bilateral meetings.
In the framework of the visit the acting khokim of Samarkand region reported to the Head of State on social and economic development of the region and current projects.
It is worth noting that this year Samarkand again will host major international events. Active preparations are underway for the first “Central Asia – European Union” summit, Climate Forum, “Central Asia – Arab Gulf states” summit and the 43rd session of UNESCO’s General Conference.
