On August 9, during his stay in the city of Astana, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

The discussion focused on further strengthening the Uzbek-Turkmen relations of friendship, good-neighborliness and strategic partnership.

The fruitful results of the Intergovernmental Commission’s meeting, the Business Council and the exhibition of Turkmen products held in Tashkent in July this year were noted with satisfaction.

Special attention was paid to matters related to increasing mutual trade volumes and promoting cooperation projects in priority sectors of the economy, including industry, energy, agriculture and transportation.

The importance of expanding interregional ties and intensifying cultural and humanitarian exchange programs was underlined.

There was also an exchange of views on regional agenda issues.
