On December 28, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a telephone coonversation.
At the beginning of the conversation, the President of Uzbekistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan warmly congratulated each other on the occasion of the New Year, wishing the two fraternal countries and the peoples of the world well-being and prosperity.
The Head of our State conveyed his greetings and best wishes to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Current issues of further development of Uzbek-Turkmen relations, friendship, good neighborliness and deep strategic partnership were discussed. The progress in the implementation of previously reached agreements, including within the framework of the inter-parliamentary dialogue, was also reviewed.
The parties expressed their deep satisfaction with the significant intensification of mutually beneficial cooperation in all priority areas.
The volume of mutual trade is growing - by the end of 2023, trade turnover will exceed $1 billion. Trade houses have been opened in Tashkent and Ashgabat, and joint work is underway to create a cross-border trade zone called "Shavat-Dashoguz".
Cooperation between the leading companies of the two countries in the fields of industry, energy, agriculture and transport is increasing, and inter-regional contacts are expanding. Regular meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council have been successfully held this year.
Joint events are held under the cultural and humanitarian programme, including cultural days, visits by creative groups and others.
Views were also exchanged on important aspects of regional cooperation in Central Asia. The schedule of meetings for 2024 was also discussed.
