President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited a Boarding School №59 in the city of Samarkand.

The school was built in 1974 and went through a fundamental repair in 2009. The study buildings, dormitory and canteen meet the requirements. At present, there are 259 blind children studying here.

There are scientific and musical clubs at the school. Many students have achieved international success in art and sports. Last year, 9 out of 19 graduates of the boarding school entered the universities.

The President has had conversations with students and teachers. They have shared memories of how Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the institution in 2003 when he was the khokim (governor) of Samarkand Region, and expressed gratitude to the state for conditions at the school and privileges for entering the universities.

“Our core idea is to dignify the value of a person. I am here today to listen to your wishes and concerns. Our goal is to create conditions for you to obtain a good education, decent job and your place in society”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The teachers noted the lack of new textbooks, especially the course books on foreign languages and computer keyboards in Braille. There are few psychologists competent to work with disabled children.

The President has underlined the possibility for expanding the opportunities for blind children taking into account all the problems voiced.

“We will make such a decision to make vocational training held first of all at school. Every university, every organization will have separate quotas for the blind. A preschool education is the most difficult part of this issue. Therefore, it is necessary to build a kindergarten at each boarding school”, said the President.

The officials in charge have been instructed to draft a corresponding document.
