President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the progress of work to improve a potable water supply in the Jizzakh Region.
In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 4, 2018, a project is being implemented to improve the potable water supply system of the region through the use of the waters of the Zarafshan River.
The project, for almost 580 billion soums, provides for the construction of water intake and treatment facilities, the Jizzakh water distribution hub and 183 kilometers of main networks.
The responsible officials reported on the work accomplished in the framework of the project.
At present, in the Bulungur Region, near the Zarafshan River, the construction of the Uzunbulok water treatment plant with a capacity of 100 thousand cubic meters, a pumping station, a laboratory, a filtration station and auxiliary facilities has been completed. A 77-kilometer wire was laid from the main network «Uzunbulok-Gagarin» to the city of Jizzakh. The Jizzakh water distribution facility and two reservoirs with a capacity of 5,000 cubic meters have been built. Now a wire 90 kilometers long will be laid from these facilities to the city of Gagarin.
As a result of this historic project, 700 thousand people living in Bakhmal, Gallyaaral, Sharaf Rashidov, Pakhtakor, Dustlik and Mirzachul Districts, as well as in 163 makhallas of the city of Jizzakh, will have access to a clean potable water.
The representatives of the elder, makhalla activists, artists and youth attended the event.
«The situation with a potable water in the Jizzakh region was difficult. The people of Jizzakh have been waiting for this water for more than 30 years. We have tried to resolve the issue even when I was Khokim (governor). However, there was no project, no money. Here, today dreams come true. The qualified specialists must now work in every structure of this system, in every region through which its parts pass. It is also necessary to train the young people to use information technologies at the same time», - Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
The project is scheduled to be completed in the first half of 2022.
