On May 13, a telephone conversation took place between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
At the beginning of the conversation, the Presidents of two states warmly congratulated one another and the brotherly peoples of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan on the Holy Ramadan holiday – the Eid al-Fitr and sincerely wished peace, prosperity and progress.
The topical issues on further development of the Uzbek-Tajik relations of friendship, good-neighborliness and strategic partnership were considered.
A particular attention was paid to the issues of preparation of the forthcoming summit meeting. The development of the new «growth points» of the mutually beneficial long-term cooperation was defined as the main task of the regular meeting of the joint Intergovernmental Commission, which is to be chaired by the Prime Ministers this week in Tashkent.
During the conversation, the leaders also discussed the practical aspects of regional cooperation. In this context, the sides were pleased to note the normalization of the situation on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border, which is an important factor in ensuring stability and security in Central Asia.
