On February 2, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Adviser to the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Abdul Razak Dawood.
During the conversation, the sides exchanged views on the prospects for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
As the President of Uzbekistan has emphasized, despite the pandemic, active contacts and exchanges are in progress, primarily contributing to the gradual expansion of practical cooperation between the two states. The volume of trade turnover is growing, the number of joint projects of cooperation between the leading companies is increasing.
Abdul Razak Dawood expressed his sincere gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for organizing the meeting and extended greetings and best wishes on behalf of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan.
The Adviser highlighted that Pakistan highly appreciates and supports the initiative to establish the railway construction project through the territory of Afghanistan, which will connect Central and South Asia by the shortest route, allowing to reach and effectively use the infrastructure of the Pakistani seaports.
Other topical issues on the joint economic agenda were also discussed.
The sides have agreed to consider the opportunities for development of the road and air freight, develop an agreement on preferential trade, exchanging experiences in the field of customs affairs, enhancing business dialogue and holding business events.
The schedule of upcoming meetings and contacts at the highest and high levels has been agreed.
