President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will take part in the 59th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank, to be held in Samarkand on May 3-4.
The Head of State will address the opening ceremony and hold a series of meetings with the heads of foreign delegations.
Held under the theme “Crossroads of Progress: Advancing the Region’s Connected Future,” the forum will serve as a key international platform for discussing global and regional economic priorities.
Participants will focus on issues such as green transformation, energy transition, digitalization, investment attraction, food security, and the resilience of industrial supply chains, and other key areas.
The five-day meeting will be attended by delegations from over 100 countries, including leaders and representatives of the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, and other international institutions. It will also bring together approximately 2,000 representatives of foreign governments, senior executives of majorinternational companies and banks, transnational corporations, and leading experts. In total, more than 4,000 delegates are expected to participate.
Uzbekistan has been a member of the ADB since 1995 and is one of its largest partners, with a total project portfolio of nearly $16 billion. The country is hosting the ADB Annual Meeting for the second time.
