Distinguished participants of the conference!
I sincerely congratulate you and all those who make a commendable contribution to the study and popularization of the life and legacy of the great statesman, invincible commander, patron of science, culture, and art, Sahibkiran Amir Temur and the Temurids, on the opening of today's international scientific conference.
Renowned scholars — professors and academics, representatives of major universities and research centers, creative intellectuals, leading staff from renowned museums and libraries, and numerous media outlets —arrived from around the world to attend the forum, demonstrating the growing worldwide interest in the ancient history and rich culture of our people.
It is especially noteworthy that the conference is being held as part of the country's widespread celebration of Amir Temur's 690th anniversary at the Islamic Civilization Center, which houses the gems of Uzbekistan's unique three-thousand-year-old scientific and cultural heritage. Undoubtedly, this scholarly forum is crucial for an in-depth analysis of the Second Renaissance — the Temurid Renaissance — a majestic and vibrant period in the history of our region, as well as for engaging in serious discussions and the joint implementation of new projects.
Dear friends!
You are well aware of the indelible mark our great ancestor Amir Temur left on the history of world civilization. He demonstrated tremendous courage in the extremely difficult circumstances of the 14th century to ensure freedom, peace, and prosperity for his homeland and founded a powerful state on the land of today's Uzbekistan. It is worth noting that architectural monuments from the time of Amir Temur and the Temurids still survive in dozens of countries, and numerous artistic and scholarly works, as well as works of fine art, dedicated to the great figure of Sahibkiran and his dynasty, are being created in various regions and countries.
It is well-known that the portal of the the majestic architectural monument the Oqsaroy Palace, commissioned by Amir Temur in his hometown Shakhrisabz, had an ancient saying inscribed "Justice is the foundation of the state and the actions of rulers." These words remain relevant today. After all, science, education, art, literature, and culture can only develop where peace and justice reign.
In this regard, the Temurid Renaissance had a profound impact on the development of science and culture not only in Turan but throughout the Eastern world, marking the beginning of a new spiritual upsurge. Numerous scholars worldwide acknowledge that the great scientific discoveries and highly artistic works of the dynasty's outstanding representatives — Mirzo Ulugh Beg, Baysunkur Mirzo, Ibraghim Sultan, Sultan Hussein Mirzo, Alisher Navoi, Babur Mirzo, and the Baburids — were possible thanks to this unique cultural and civilizational phenomenon.
In New Uzbekistan, extensive work is underway to study the role and significance of the legacy of Amir Temur and the Temurids in the history of world civilization, to widely popularize it within the country and abroad, and to educate young people in the spirit of love for the Motherland and respect for national and universal values.
In particular, a separate resolution was adopted in connection with the 690th anniversary of Amir Temur. The document specifies
that from this year on every April is declared as the Month of Amir Temur in Uzbekistan with national and international scientific and practical conferences, as well as spiritual and educational events to be held across the country.
Today's forum is another practical step in this direction. We will continue our consistent collaboration with you, the true friends of Uzbekistan - selfless and dedicated scholars and researchers who deeply study the Temurid Renaissance and our rich historical heritage - to further inform the international community about the socio-spiritual reforms being carried out in the country.
I am confident that during the conference you will not only be able to directly familiarize yourself with the historical, architectural,
and cultural monuments, as well as the unique collection of manuscripts and books created by the genius of our people, but also present your proposals and recommendations for their study, preservation, and popularization.
Taking this opportunity, I wish you all good health, new accomplishments in your noble work, and successful work at the conference.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan
