On March 19, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held a telephone conversation.
The leaders exchanged warm congratulations on the upcoming holidays of Ramadan Hayit and Nowruz, extending sincere wishes of peace, well-being, and prosperity to the fraternal peoples of both countries.
Particular attention was given to further expanding Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations of strategic partnership and alliance, including the implementation of agreements reached at the second meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council.
The steady growth of trade and the promotion of joint cooperation projects across trade, economic, investment, transport, cultural, humanitarian, and other priority areas were noted with satisfaction.
The sides also discussed the evolving situation in the Middle East, noting that further escalation could lead to unpredictable consequences for the region and the global economy. The need to reduce tensions at the earliest possible stage through exclusively political and diplomatic means was emphasized.
The schedule of upcoming bilateral and multilateral engagements was also reviewed.
