The working visit program of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Washington D.C. began with a meeting with U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick.
Practical aspects related to the further strengthening of the Uzbek-American strategic partnership, as well as to advancing trade and economic cooperation projects in priority areas, were discussed.
It was noted with satisfaction that the United States is one of Uzbekistan’s key partners. Bilateral trade has exceeded $1 billion, and around 340 American companies are operating in the country’s market.
Major projects in energy, critical minerals, transport, agriculture, IT, and other sectors are progressing successfully. Efforts continue to supply key sectors of the economy with high-tech equipment and advanced machinery.
A three-year, $35 billion Economic Cooperation Program is currently being implemented. The signing of several important agreements is expected today as part of the business agenda.
The need to fully utilize the potential of the Business Council and to launch an Investment Platform to ensure systematic support for priority projects was highlighted.
Particular emphasis was placed on expanding trade relations and strengthening direct business contacts with the regions of Uzbekistan.
