Leaders of Uzbekistan and Türkiye take part in the launch ceremony of humanitarian projects

29.01.2026

As part of the official visit to Ankara, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan took part in the opening ceremony of the “Uzbekistan” residential complex, constructed by the Uzbek side in Hatay Province.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Leader of Uzbekistan noted that the devastating earthquake that occurred last year was a severe ordeal for the brotherly Turkish people. Uzbekistan began providing comprehensive support to Türkiye from the very first days of that tragic period.

Within a short period, 100 Uzbek rescuers and 70 medical personnel were dispatched to the disaster zone. As a result of the search and rescue operations, 18 people were saved, and about 200 victims were pulled from the rubble. Medical assistance was provided to 4,000 patients at a field hospital.

It was particularly emphasized that large-scale programs to address the earthquake's aftermath have been implemented at the initiative of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. To date, more than 455,000 homes have been built in the country.

In turn, Uzbekistan promptly constructed a modern residential complex in the Arsuz District of Hatay Province, consisting of 24 apartment buildings with over 300 fully equipped apartments and modern infrastructure.

The President of Türkiye noted that this complex is not only a new home for the affected families but also a vivid symbol of the eternal friendship between the Uzbek and Turkish peoples.

The leaders expressed sincere appreciation to the builders, engineers, workers, and all partners who participated in the project's implementation.

The heads of state ceremonially presented the keys to the new apartments to their owners.

The Presidents also launched the construction of an Uzbek school in the Bakırköy District of Istanbul — Uzbekistan's first educational institution abroad.

The new school will allow children from Uzbek families living in Türkiye to receive an education in their native language, as well as to preserve their national values, culture, and traditions.

The parties expressed confidence that this school will contribute to the further rapprochement of the two brotherly nations and will become an important center for the enlightenment and education of the young generation.
