President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was briefed on the measures being implemented on transforming mahallas into territories without unemployment and poverty, ensuring employment of the population.
The meeting held in a critical spirit identified untapped potential and shortcomings.
It was noted that today specific assessment criteria for the effectiveness of work of the “mahalla seven” are absent, and it’s necessary to increase their responsibility for the implementation of the main objective – reducing unemployment and poverty. It was emphasized that their activity should be directly reflected in the growth of the employment and revenue of the people, and the work in this field must be more targeted and result-oriented.
The President instructed to identify problems of the mahalla and their growth points, develop and implement systemic measures, paying the special attention to resolving citizens’ appeals locally.
The current work in the most problematic mahallas was reviewed. The objective was set to pay to such areas special attention, expand access to infrastructure, energy supply, Internet, and opportunities to use household plots.
It was noted that it’s expected to reduce the level of poverty from 8,9 percent in the beginning of the year to 6 percent by the end of the current year. Next year the target was set to reduce this indicator to 4,5 percent.
To achieve these tasks, objectives were set to comprehensively organize work in mahallas: expanding the scope of services aimed at sustainable employment, creating revenue sources, training population on professions and involving into entrepreneurial activities.
It was especially emphasized that it’s necessary to develop individual programs based on the real opportunities and needs for each family in need.
In the framework of the project approach it’s planned to cover 1 million of citizens in need with such initiatives, as “Partnership of employment agencies with employers”, “Equal opportunities – inclusive employment”, “Towards a sustainable future”, “20 local brands”, “One area – one product”, “Developing entrepreneurship in mahallas”, “Improving watering in rented and household plots”, “Renewing old gardens”, “1 thousand hectares of fruit gardens”, “Export cooperatives” and other programs.
Measures on reducing poverty and unemployment through implementing small and medium projects in mahallas, including infrastructure development in cross-border and enclave mahallas, creating round-the-clock streets, touristic mahallas, industrial micro-centers, developing coastal and road infrastructure.
Additionally the implementation of the employment program for 2025, development of the plan for 2026 and issues of reducing unofficial employment, were reviewed.
The President instructed the official entities to ensure targeted resolution of tasks locally, improve the effectiveness of practical work with consideration of real needs of the population, as well as achieve high responsibility level when implementing tasks on reducing unemployment and poverty.
