Accomplished work and further tasks in the space sector discussed

16.10.2025

On October 16, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation of proposals on identifying new economic opportunities using space monitoring.

In recent years, the use of aerospace data in various sectors of the economy has been actively expanding in our country. In particular, a decree signed by the President on September 30 this year brought this work to a qualitatively new stage. According to the document, the Uzcosmos Agency under the Ministry of digital technologies will conduct state space monitoring in the fields of geology, land relations, and ecology at least three times a year. The positions of territorial representatives of the agency have also been introduced.

As noted during the presentation, the main task today is to use space analysis to identify new opportunities that can give a powerful impetus to economic development.
Hundreds of mineral deposits and quarries are put up for auction in the republic every year. Conditions have been created for entrepreneurs to introduce modern industrial methods of subsoil development.

Last year alone, 170 deposits were sold at auction, and since the beginning of this year, another 172.

At the same time, it was emphasized that there are still cases of illegal use of mineral resources. Since the beginning of the year, more than 2,000 such cases have been identified with the help of space monitoring.

The General Prosecutor's Office has been tasked with effectively using satellite analysis data on land, industrial facilities, and deposits in its work to prevent and promptly detect economic crimes.

In recent years, 1,365,000 unauthorized residential buildings have been registered in the cadastre. However, it has not yet been possible to completely eliminate the problem of illegal construction: since the beginning of the year, more than 33,000 such objects have been identified, a significant part of which are located on agricultural land.

In this regard, instructions have been given to integrate existing information platforms as soon as possible and create a system that allows for a rapid response to cases of illegal construction.

Particular attention is being paid to identifying unused land plots through space monitoring and bringing them into economic circulation. According to the results of an analysis conducted in six regions, about 300 hectares of vacant land have been identified. In Tashkent alone, 95 hectares have been identified and are already up for auction.

The Head of State instructed that research in eight more regions should be completed by the end of the year, and that all regional centers of the country should be covered next year.

The importance of actively introducing international experience and advanced technological solutions was noted.

The responsible persons presented information on projects involving the use of artificial intelligence to analyze space data in order to identify illegal logging, methane leaks, study the efficiency of solar panels, determine the condition of road surfaces, and identify malfunctions and overloads on railway and electrical networks.

The presentation also looked at proposals to create an educational ecosystem in the space sector, develop research and technology, and expand communications coverage in remote areas of the country through the introduction of satellite telecommunications.

Instructions were given to thoroughly prepare for the International Astronautical Congress, which will be held in Samarkand in 2028.
