On August 5, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in a special event dedicated to the preparation and organization of the seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia.
The event was attended by the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers – Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic Adylbek Kasymaliev, and Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov, as well as members of official delegations and representatives of the public.
In accordance with the agenda, the main aspects of preparations for the upcoming Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia in the city of Tashkent were reviewed.
The Leader of our country informed about the joint work carried out within the framework of Uzbekistan’s chairmanship in this format. In particular, in the beginning of the year, the Chairmanship concept and the Schedule of joint events were adopted.
Meetings of security council secretaries, heads of special services, ministers of industry, energy, water management and ecology, as well as media and youth forums have been held.
By the end of the year, an interparliamentary forum, meetings of ministers of defense, trade and transport, as well as cultural and humanitarian events are planned.
For the development of a new agenda of regional partnership and strengthening of its legal and regulatory framework, conceptual documents for the meeting are being prepared.
It was emphasized that within the framework of the Tashkent summit, the Uzbek side intends to put forward a number of initiatives aimed at deepening political dialogue, launching new drivers of economic cooperation and expanding cross-border trade. The focus will be on issues of practical cooperation in the water and energy sectors, expansion of transport connectivity, as well as in the area of climate change.
The participation of the Azerbaijani side in the meetings was noted with satisfaction. Today, the countries of the region are fruitfully cooperating with Azerbaijan. Projects are being implemented in the fields of trade, transport and “green” energy.
In conclusion, the President of Uzbekistan expressed confidence that the coordinated and agreed approaches of the Central Asian countries will allow to achieve common goals of regional development and prosperity.
