President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited “Eman materials” enterprise in the industrial zone of Chilanzar district.
In the conditions of the global economic instability it’s especially important to effectively use the internal resources and support sectors, creating the most number of jobs. Such sectors in Uzbekistan include textile industry, production of construction materials and furniture industry, where today about a million people are employed.
In particular, there are 7,5 thousand enterprises operating in the furniture sector. Only last year 920 new ones were opened. Furniture was manufactured worth 6.7 trillion soum, products were exported worth $20 million.
Based on the experience of Khonka district in Khorezm region there are furniture clusters created in other regions. The state supports entrepreneurs in this sphere on the matters of importing raw resources, hardware and components, as well as exiting to export markets.
There are about 10 furniture companies working in the industrial zone of Chilanzar. The “Eman materials” enterprise was created at the expense of the project initiator’s funds worth $10 million. Here the production of 10 thousand tons of hardware and furniture components is organized annually, which are supplied to thousands of small and medium enterprises of the country on the conditions of cooperation. Soon it’s planned to start exporting.
200 people are employed at the enterprise. It is important to note that it has opened a training center to prepare furniture specialists, with the participation of experts from such countries as Italy and Türkiye.
In addition, the company provides additional services in custom furniture production, design, cutting, equipment repair and other areas.
There's also a showroom on the territory of the complex, where branded products of the capital's manufacturers are presented. This system provides convenience for both sellers and service companies, as well as for buyers.
The Head of State reviewed the production process and talked to specialists. He stressed that the furniture industry still has a great untapped potential for localization and creation of products with high added value.
Here was also presented information on the activities of the “reform headquarters” established in Chilanzar district. New proposals aimed at employment and poverty reduction, as well as expected results were considered.
It was noted that if at the beginning of the year the poverty rate in the district exceeded 7 percent, then at the end of the first half of the year it decreased to 2.2 percent. Within the framework of the targeted plan, the goal set is to completely eliminate poverty and unemployment in the raion by the end of the year. To this end, measures are being implemented to identify the potential of families, support micro-projects, create new business entities and legalize informal jobs.
The President emphasized his continued support for initiatives aimed at employment. He emphasized the need to actively attract investment, turn opportunities into concrete projects, and expand the activities of small businesses. Those responsible for the economy and investment have been instructed to meet regularly with entrepreneurs, address their concerns and help implement proposals.
