Reform implementation in Jizzakh region reviewed

07.07.2025

On July 7, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the report on the effectiveness of reforms, progress of work in the districts of Jizzakh region and resolution of problems concerning the population.

On December 31 last year, a decree of the President on accelerated socio-economic development of Jizzakh oblast was adopted, which identified priority measures. In particular, for 2025 it is planned to attract $2 billion in investments, increase exports to $285 million and provide employment for 168 thousand people.

These tasks are being gradually fulfilled. Over the past six months, 200 projects in industry, services and agriculture were implemented in the region. The inflow of investments amounted to $662 million.

However, Dustlik, Zafarabad, Pakhtakor and Mirzachul districts are significantly lagging behind the region-wide growth rates. In this regard, the President emphasized the need to locate new projects primarily in these districts in order to create jobs.

In recent months, large tourist complexes worth $250 million have been put into operation in the region, resulting in a twofold increase in the flow of tourists. All conditions are in place for further growth in this indicator.

Another important resource is land capacity. Although the region has 1.3 million hectares of agricultural land, only 40 percent of it is used for crops. In addition, the average income per hectare of land is lower than in other regions. With the rational use of land, it is possible to significantly increase the production of food and fodder for livestock.

At the initiative of the President, a “reform headquarters” was also established in Jizzakh region, which included representatives of the authorities, specialized specialists and leading entrepreneurs.

A package of new projects prepared by the headquarters was presented at the meeting. According to the plan, it is envisaged to implement 200 projects with a total cost of $520 million. Their implementation will create 12 thousand jobs, provide additional budget revenues of 120 billion soums and achieve export potential of $100 million.

The Head of State inquired about the economic feasibility and market demand for the projects. It was emphasized that khokims and headquarters should operate harmoniously, achieving a qualitative leap in industry, agriculture, tourism and services. In this case, it was pointed out at the meeting that Jizzakh region will become one of the fastest developing regions in terms of investment attraction, job creation, growth of income of population and export.
