On June 11 ahead of the third session of Foreign Investors Council, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation of European bank for reconstruction and development headed by its president Odile Renaud-Basso.
Issues of further expanding strategic cooperation of Uzbekistan with this authoritative international financial institution were considered.
The expansion of the joint project portfolio was noted with satisfaction: EBRD investments in Uzbekistan have already exceeded 5.5 billion euros. Plans for the current year – attracting an additional 1.1 billion euros, a significant portion of which will be directed toward supporting the private sector.
The Partnership Strategy is being effectively implemented. With the Bank’s active support, the transformation of the banking sector is underway.
The Head of our state emphasized the importance of enhancing the effectiveness of cooperation and outlined key priorities for collaboration.
These include such areas as the technological modernization of the water supply system, advancing the energy efficiency improvement program, developing the mortgage market, infrastructure development in free economic zones, expanding opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses, support for women’s entrepreneurship.
Special attention was paid to promoting public-private partnership projects in the fields of education and healthcare, supporting startups focused on artificial intelligence implementation and digital transformation.
An exchange of views also took place regarding the agenda of the upcoming third session of the Foreign Investors Council.
