On March 27, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with a presentation on improving the system of support for talented youth.
The country is creating broad opportunities for the development of intellectual potential and comprehensive support for young people. In particular, 14 Presidential schools, 185 specialized and 9 creative schools have been established. Their training and evaluation systems have also been introduced in 1,5 thousand general education schools. The “New Uzbekistan” University has been created for gifted graduates.
These measures provide young people with access to world-class quality education. However, it is important to properly guide talented students and facilitate their enrollment in the world's leading universities.
During his February meeting with young people, the President of the country put forward a number of initiatives in this field. Practical and organizational aspects of implementing these proposals were discussed at the presentation.
In particular, it is planned to launch an international school from September this year. At the first stage, 60 most gifted students will be selected from among 8th grade graduates. The curriculum will be built according to international standards and will include three blocks: basic subjects, specialized disciplines, as well as courses on leadership and social activity.
The academic year will consist of three trimesters and will last 11 months.
Under another initiative of the President, the National program for preparing young people for entry into American Ivy League Universities will be implemented. The program is designed in six stages. This year, 3 thousand students will be selected and 208 mentors from Presidential and specialized schools will work with them.
Training sessions will be held in the format of three-week intensive courses at the “Renaissance” educational center. Based on the results of the training, the top 40 students will have the opportunity to complete internships at Ivy League universities.
Special attention is paid to the further employment of young people educated abroad. In this regard, it is proposed to create a “Community of the country's golden fund” to bring together talented youth on a single platform. Benefits, grants, startup programs and other opportunities will be provided for graduates of foreign universities. It is planned to hold an annual congress of the community on May 25 to discuss reforms in education, programs for gifted youth and foreign experience.
The President supported the proposed initiatives and emphasized the need for a systematic approach to supporting talented youth.
Today, 750 compatriots are studying abroad through the “El-Yurt Umidi” Foundation. The Head of State instructed to expand these opportunities and improve the work of the foundation.
