On March 17, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation from the United States of America headed by Congresswoman Carol Miller, a member of the Parliamentary Caucus on Cooperation with Uzbekistan.
The issues of further development and deepening of Uzbek-American relations of strategic partnership and multifaceted interaction were discussed.
At the beginning of the meeting, the parliamentarian conveyed to the Head of our state sincere greetings and best wishes on behalf of the U.S. President, Congressional leadership and members of the Caucus on Uzbekistan.
The high level of bilateral cooperation achieved was noted with deep satisfaction. Active political contacts and interagency exchanges continue. In recent years, the volumes of trade turnover and investments have grown several times, and business cooperation is intensifying.
Webster University and American Technological University are functioning in Tashkent.
In addition, mutually beneficial cooperation in the areas of transportation, customs, migration, culture and other priority areas is underway.
Carol Miller praised the results of the reform strategy being implemented in New Uzbekistan, including modernization of the economy, strengthening democratic institutions, especially the parliament, and ensuring gender equality.
Particular attention was paid to the expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation in order to support and promote economic and investment projects, including in the mining, industrial, energy and agrarian sectors.
The importance of establishing partnership ties between the regions of Uzbekistan and the American states was emphasized.
An exchange of views was also held on topical issues of the regional agenda and the situation in Afghanistan.
