President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the progress of the construction of the Olympic Town.
The grand complex is being built for the Asian Youth Games and the Asian Youth Para Games scheduled for next year.
The competition program includes 29 sports recognized by the International Olympic Committee. The games are expected to attract more than 3 thousand athletes from 45 countries of the continent.
The 100-hectare Olympic Town will have all the necessary conditions for a successful tournament. Currently, there is active construction on the main sites. Construction of the Olympic stadium for 12 thousand seats, a bicycle tower for 2 thousand spectators, a water sports palace, as well as single-combat and team games complexes, are completed.
The Head of State visited key sports facilities and got acquainted with the construction work. The responsible persons reported on the conditions created for the organization of the opening ceremony and the competition.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev paid special attention to the issues of convenience and security. He noted the need to ensure a high level of digitalization of all processes and the widespread use of artificial intelligence technologies.
The Olympic Town will also be equipped with 15 outdoor areas for football, volleyball, tennis, field hockey and track and field athletics. The construction of an administrative building with museums and offices, parks and artificial lake is also planned.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev talked with the representative of the Chinese company “CAMC Engineering”, which is carrying out construction work.
After the Asian Games, the Olympic Town will continue to function and become an important center of the domestic sport. As the President noted, this complex will become not only a place for competitions, but also a scientific and practical training center. The Ministry of Sports, Anti-Doping Agency, State Academy of Sports, Research Institute of Physical Education and Center for Development of Sports will be located here. Based on the town, training and improvement of skills of professional athletes will be organized, and regional sports organizations will have the opportunity to use the infrastructure of the complex.
The Olympic Town will be governed by the principles of a “smart city”. Overall, the town will serve our people for many years as an important center of sports and health.
