On June 6, under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the first meeting of the Uzbek-Turkish Business Council was held in Ankara.
From the Uzbek side “Global Textile”, “ProCab”, “Agromir Group”, “ERIELL Group”, “Akfa Holding”, “Murad Buildings”, “SAG”, “BMB Holding”, “Uzbekistan Hydrogen” participated in the council.
Holding companies such as “Çalık”, “Cengiz”, “Acibadem”, “Eczacıbaşı”, “Anadolu Group”, “Aksa Energy”, “Zorlu”, “Kalyon”, “Onur Group” and others represented the Turkish side.
This is the first time that the Business Council dialogue has been held under the chairmanship of the Leaders of the two countries. The Presidents of Uzbekistan and Türkiye stressed that the establishment of the Uzbek-Turkish Business Council symbolizes the achievement of a new standard in the development of bilateral relations.
It was pointed out that regular meetings of the Council should be held to address all emerging issues expeditiously and to promote priorities for further investment, trade and economic cooperation.
The Head of Uzbekistan noted with satisfaction the progressive dynamics of bilateral trade, economic and investment partnership. Thus, in the last five years, the number of enterprises with the participation of Turkish capital has tripled to 2 thousand and the volume of investments has doubled.
As a result of the joint business forum and business events held on the eve, a solid package of bilateral documents was signed in the fields of agriculture, construction, energy, health, geology, electrical engineering, production of building materials, jewelry, textile and leather industries.
The President gave a number of examples of successful activities of Turkish companies “Cengiz Energy”, “Aksa Energy”, “Çalık Holding”, “Eczacıbaşı” and “Anadolu” in the energy, construction, mining and food industries.
The Leader of our state identified a number of promising areas of partnership, first of all, it is an expansion of investment cooperation and industrial cooperation.
Agreement was reached on the establishment of an Uzbek-Turkish industrial cluster, which will become an industrial zone in Uzbekistan and a locomotive for practical cooperation between the two countries.
The President of Uzbekistan paid special attention to the development of public-private partnership mechanisms, on the basis of which it is planned to implement joint projects worth more than US $3 billion.
Mining cooperation is another priority. Practical research and mining activities have already started with major Turkish geological companies.
In turn, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan noted that Türkiye seeks to further strengthen mutually beneficial relations with Uzbekistan in all spheres.
He stressed out great potential for direct cooperation between the business communities. The leader of Türkiye called for a constructive dialogue among Council members to strengthen trade, economic and investment ties.
During the exchange of views, representatives of the Turkish business community appreciated the opportunities created by the irreversible reforms implemented in Uzbekistan, which provide a solid basis for the implementation of long-term plans for Turkish business in our country.
The meeting heard specific proposals by heads of leading companies of Uzbekistan and Türkiye, aimed at further deepening cooperation in priority areas.
The Heads of State sincerely thanked business representatives for their willingness to work together and instructed responsible managers to provide comprehensive support to entrepreneurs.
