President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the road repaired under a new project in the Karakul district.
In the Bukhara region, there are 15 thousand 400 kilometres of roads, of which 486 kilometres are of international importance. An average of 45-50 thousand vehicles move on them every day.
At the video conference held on January 29 this year, the Head of State paid special attention to this area, giving instructions on the quality construction of roads and the development of service along the streets. Work has begun in all regions.
In particular, the part of the road "Samarkand - Bukhara - Turkmenbashi" passing through the Karakul district was given an exemplary appearance.
According to the project, the four-lane road is covered with a new type of asphalt concrete. The use of innovative materials with high durability has improved the quality of the road.
For instance, if traditional asphalt roads are repaired about every fifteen years, the new project’s roads will last up to twenty years. The maintenance interval will also increase. Another advantage is the possibility of processing and updating road layers directly on site during repair.
The Head of State noted the need to scale the project.
- The main task is to ensure quality and culture on the roads, - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The new draft devoted special attention to that issue. To maintain the quality of the road, mobile scales will be installed to periodically measure the weight of vehicles carrying goods above the allowable limit.
A side road is also constructed here. There are new signs, electronic displays and lighting on the solar panels. Ornamental trees are planted along the road.
The President stressed that tree planting should be carried out simultaneously with road construction.
Transport and construction projects are also presented here.
While previously an average of 250 to 300 kilometres of road work were carried out per year, 1255 kilometres of road were repaired in 2023 alone. This year it is planned to reconstruct and repair 1316 kilometers of roads in the region.
In continuation of this work, a project for the reconstruction of 155 kilometres of road from Gijduvan district to the border with Turkmenistan was approved.
The need to organize training in the field of road construction and to upgrade the skills of specialists in developed countries was emphasized.
The concept of development of the city of Bukhara was also considered. It is planned to build a "New Uzbekistan" housing estate and park. The park will reflect the history of Bukhara using modern approaches. Instructions on the development of the idea content and feasibility of the project were given.
