President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited secondary school No. 5 in Yunusabad district of Tashkent.
The “Uzbekistan – 2030” Strategy identifies reforms in the education system as a priority. One of the key issues in this area is increasing the number of school places.
The Head of State noted that along with the construction of new educational institutions, it is advisable to increase the number of floors in existing educational facilities or to build additional campuses.
School No. 5, originally designed for 960 pupils, had 2,000 boys and girls studying there. Therefore, last year it was reconstructed and additional buildings were built. As a result, an additional 1,7 thousand places were made available.
The school has created modern conditions in 65 educational, 12 language and 5 computer classes. A STEAM lab has been created for pupils interested in science, engineering and technology. There is a gym, a co-working space and a recreation area. The school library contains 5,8 thousand scientific and fiction books.
Today, the school has about 2,6 thousand students. Last year, out of 165 graduates, 163 enrolled in higher education institutions.
Our country attaches great importance to the vocational training of young people from an early age. At School No. 5, students learn sewing, cooking, wood and metal processing skills.
The President was acquainted with the conditions in these clubs.
During the meeting with members of the School Directors’ Council of the city of Tashkent, the value and respect for the work of teachers was stressed.
“There were times when attention to the teaching profession was weak. Today, we are making every effort to restore the prestige of this noble profession and to motivate teachers financially. We plan to start the construction of New Tashkent by laying the foundation for the building of the Pedagogical University. After all, teachers are the basis of New Uzbekistan. Therefore, they must constantly work on themselves, develop their knowledge and methods”, the President said.
