President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation of plans in the field of road construction.
Numerous projects are being developed in our country to promote a network of international and local roads and provide transport facilities. In particular, the project "Cement-concrete construction of internal roads" with the participation of the Asian Development Bank is envisaged. As part of the project, 841 kilometers of roads with cement-concrete surfaces will be built in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and 86 districts of the regions, where more than 770 thousand people live in 272 makhallas. For this purpose, the Asian Development Bank will contribute US $240 million.
The construction and technical supervision will be carried out entirely by domestic contractors - private entrepreneurs and local engineers. After the commissioning of the roads, the main contractor will ensure their guaranteed maintenance and operation for a period of 5 years.
Another project is aimed at the reconstruction of the section of the international motorway M39 "Almaty - Bishkek - Tashkent - Shakhrisabz - Termez" from 1255 to 1315 kilometers. This narrow and in need of repair section passes through the center of the Dekhkanabad district.
The project will include the construction of 60 kilometers of a four-lane cement concrete road. A new 17-kilometre bypass road, 14 bridges and road overpasses will be built around the center of Dekhkanabad district. The project will be funded by almost US $154 million from the Islamic Development Bank and the OPEC Fund for International Development.
In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated October 10, 2023, the task of revising the list of public roads was defined. The document also approved a list of 20 kilometers of roads in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and each region, the operation of which is being outsourced to the private sector on an experimental basis.
The presentation presented information on the work done in this area and plans for the current year.
The Head of State gave instructions for the quality construction of roads, planting trees along the streets being repaired to improve the ecology of the regions and the creation of convenient road transport infrastructure in rural areas.
