On August 25, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Chairman of the US Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Gary Peters.
The issues of further strengthening of the Uzbek-American relations of strategic partnership and expansion of practical interaction, primarily within the framework of the dialogue between the parliaments of the two countries, were considered.
The intensification of mutual contacts and exchanges was noted with satisfaction. Bilateral trade indicators are growing, and the number of successful examples of cooperation with leading American companies is increasing. Important humanitarian programs are being implemented.
A particular attention was paid to the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation to promote joint projects in priority areas.
There was an exchange of views on the regional agenda, including preparations for the forthcoming first C5+1 Summit, held at the initiative of the US President on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
