On August 2, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the activities of enterprises in “Angren” Free Economic Zone.
The economic zone, established in 2012, has expanded in recent years. Today it covers Akhangaran district of Angren city, and a part of Bekabad city. Today, 76 enterprises operate in this zone, employing more than 11 thousand people.
There is a $23 million enterprise of “Premier Elektrotech” LLC. Launched in December last year, the enterprise can produce 100 thousand washing machines and 200 thousand refrigerators a year, as well as export products worth $1 million. 350 people work here.
At present, the first phase of the project has been completed. Work is underway to expand production. The second stage will be implemented in December this year, creating 450 jobs.
The company also produces other household appliances, including televisions and air conditioners. This competitive product is exported to the CIS countries.
The President noted that Akhangaran has a ready-made industrial infrastructure, which is a good basis for attracting foreign investment. A proposal was made to organize an electrotechnical industry zone to increase the number of such enterprises.
Five years ago, there was a wasteland at the site of Akhangaran Metal Pipe Plant. In 2018, the work began on the construction of an industrial complex. The equipment for this project worth $49 million was imported from Türkiye. The capacities for producing 205 thousand tons of metal products a year have been created, and 250 people have been employed. For 6 months of this year, almost $4 million worth of products were exported.
The “Silk Plast Quality” enterprise can produce 13 thousand tons of polymer pipes and fittings annually. 78 people are employed.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the exhibition of products manufactured in “Angren” Free Economic Zone. The instructions were given on formating new projects and increasing employment.
In the Free Economic Zone, work has begun on 42 more projects, and as a result more than 5 thousand jobs will be created.
