The continuation of active and systematic political contacts, acceleration of joint industrial cooperation projects, support for economic and humanitarian initiatives, and other major issues on the bilateral agenda were discussed during a telephone conversation between the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
The Hungarian Prime Minister warnly congratulated the Head of our state on his convincing victory in the recently held early presidential elections and sincerely wished the people of Uzbekistan peace, well-being and prosperity.
The dynamic development of the Uzbek-Hungarian multifaceted cooperation was noted with satisfaction. Regular political consultations have been established. An Uzbek Embassy was opened in Budapest in March this year.
The volume of mutual trade is growing. The leading European bank OTP has entered the financial and banking market.
Joint projects are being developed in agriculture, the food industry, pharmaceuticals, and other priority sectors. The total investment portfolio amounts to $1.5 billion.
During the telephone conversation, particular attention was paid to the importance of developing specific measures within the framework of the Intergovernmental Commission to accelerate the implementation of cooperation projects and expand humanitarian and educational exchanges.
