On May 19, within the second day of state visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to China, a number of business events took place.
The President, accompanied by the Vice Premier of the State Council He Lifeng, visited the exhibition of Uzbekistan-China cooperation, taking place these days in Xi’an.
The delegations toured the stalls dedicated to Uzbek-Chinese cooperation in industry, infrastructural development, agriculture, science, education and innovations. The sides were presented with detailed information on the outcomes and plans of mutually beneficial partnership, new agreements and promising investment projects developed specifically for the visit, proposed for implementation in Uzbekistan.
On the margins of the exhibition, the launch ceremony of new joint projects was held in the format of tele bridge between the Chinese city of Xian, and Syrdarya, Tashkent, Jizzakh and Samarkand regions of our country.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, having pressed a symbolic button, launched 15 production facilities for manufacturing vehicles and electric cars, construction materials, a wide assortment of metal products and rolled metal goods, medical goods, as well as construction of new enterprises worth $3.3 billion.
Following this, the President of Uzbekistan held a meeting with leading representatives of Chinese business, financial and investment circles.
The Vice Premier of the State Council of China He Lifeng, the Secretary of Shaanxi Provincial Communist Party Committee Zhao Yide, the President of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank Jin Liqun, the Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Ren Hongbin as well as heads of over 100 major companies, corporations and banks, such as China National Petroleum Corporation, China National Chemical and Engineering Company, China CAMC Engineering, BYD Auto Industry, Sungrow Power Supply, China North Industries Corporation, Xinjiang Hualing Group, China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation, Huawei Technologies, China Development Bank, Export-Import Bank, other commercial and financial institutions took part in the event.
The head of our state, having warmly greeted the participants of the event held in the format of round table, underlined the symbolism of the meeting in the ancient city of Xi’an - one of the economic centers of China, from where long ago the Great Silk Road emanated.
The President of Uzbekistan stressed the unprecedented cooperation level achieved between two countries in recent years. It was noted that the mutual trade turnover has doubled and reached $9 billion. The volume of Chinese investments in Uzbekistan has for the first time approached $11 billion.
Today, more than 1.7 thousand enterprises with Chinese capital are successfully operating in our country. A number of major joint projects in energy, oil and gas, chemical, mining, textile and other industries are being implemented.
A particular satisfaction was expressed over the outcomes of fruitful talks with the President of China Xi Jinping, in which a special attention was paid to the use of bilateral trade, economic and investment potential, as well as the creation of favorable conditions for Chinese companies in the Uzbek market.
Joint business events successfully held within the framework of the visit of the President of Uzbekistan were also noted.
In particular, agreements on the implementation of new high-tech industrial, trade and investment projects worth over $25 billion in energy, chemistry, metallurgy, geology, automotive industry, electrical engineering, construction and other fields have been reached.
«This is a bright evidence of the remarkable success of the Uzbek-Chinese cooperation, a high mutual interest in deepening mutually beneficial partnership», the President underscored.
The head of state drew attention of the meeting participants to the cardinal improvements of investment climate in our country, and comfortable conditions created for investors.
The wide opportunities for joint production of high value-added goods in Uzbekistan and their further exports to third countries’ markets were pointed out. In this regard, the sectors of «green energy», chemistry, automotive industry, electrical engineering, metallurgy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, health care and others are considered the most promising.
The President of Uzbekistan invited Chinese businessmen to take advantage of these unique opportunities, and underscored the readiness to provide Chinese business with necessary production infrastructure, stable sales market, and provide all possible support and co-financing of projects.
During the exchange of views, the heads of major Chinese corporations, companies and banks reaffirmed their commitment to further develop cooperation with Uzbekistan. A willingness to enhance practical interaction in priority spheres, especially in creating high-tech and innovative industries was expressed.
The head of our state tasked heads of ministries and agencies to take the aforementioned initiatives under personal control, and adopt a relevant road map with a step-by-step mechanism and specific implementation deadlines.
