On April 6, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with activities carried out in the sphere of nature protection.

Within the framework of the administrative reforms, the Ministry of Natural Resources has been established. Today, many topical issues in the sphere need to be addressed.

There are opportunities for developing eco-tourism in nature reserves and nurseries, as well as hunting tourism in the relevant fields, at the same time, carrying out all the necessary measures for nature conservation. In this regard, it was tasked to attract tourists to natural sites, and create nurseries for breeding predatory animals.

The President paid a particular attention to the issues of air protection, water and land resources, as well as underground wealth.

In particular, the water treatment facilities in over 500 enterprises fall short of the standards, in some, these facilities do not exist at all. A low compensation for ecological damage has led to a situation when entrepreneurs are better off paying the compensation instead of setting up the treatment facilities. In this regard, it was proposed to increase the amount of compensations for excess wastewater discharges. The President tasked to organize the activity of ecological supervision inspection.

In addition, 7 million tons of household wastes are collected annually in the country. Only 2 million of them are recycled. The landfill gas and wastewater, which form the landfills, are damaging the nature.

At the old landfill in Akhangaran, a project for generating 15 megawatts of electricity from wastes has been launched. The President emphasized the need to expand this experience by establishing waste recycling and alternative energy production at other landfills.

It was noted, that the wooded land is only 8% in managed forests. The possibility to create 221 thousand hectares of forests in steppe zones and 15 thousand in mountainous terrains through developing the tree nurseries was pointed out.

It was tasked to introduce a completely new system on the development of forestry and implement the nationwide project «Yashil Makon» (Green Land). In particular, it was strictly defined that the creation of parks and forests will be implemented based on the target program funded by centralized sources.

In the sphere of hydrometeorology, the measures for increasing the number of automatic meteorological stations, automating the hydrological changes and launching mobile application of agrometeorological service were determined.

In addition, small, automated station for monitoring the atmospheric air pollution will be installed in every city and district. Based on their data, the ratings of air cleanness will be formed, the work of official in charge will be assessed.
