 On March 16, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the National Leader of Turkmen People, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the sidelines of the Extraordinary Summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Ankara.

The sides considered the practical implementation of the agreements reached during the historic visits at the top level last year.

The active contacts and exchanges at multiple levels, outcomes of the recent Intergovernmental Commission meeting, growth in trade turnover and deepening of cooperation in the priority sectors have been noted with a great satisfaction.

A particular attention was paid to the launch of practical work on the establishment of «Shavat-Dashoguz» border trade zone, as well as the promotion of important cooperation projects in energy, mechanical engineering, transport and logistics, including agriculture and other spheres.

Current issues of regional cooperation were discussed and the schedule of upcoming events was considered.
