President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has visited the tourist center «Oltin ipak karvonsaroyi» in the city of Margilan.
The atmosphere and lifestyle of ancient Uzbek houses have been created here. The workshops of carpet weaving, embroidery, copper crafts and others are located on the first floor of this complex. Tourists can closely observe the process of making national crafts, as well as purchase them.
A traditional-style caravanserai with 30 seats is located on the second floor. In the future, the complex will serve more than 10 thousand tourists annually.
The President expressed his gratitude to craftsmen for maintaining folk crafts and the attention being paid to young people's upbringing.
«At the present time of high technologies, you miss these ordinary, soulful places. Our fathers and mothers created these crafts, this culture, investing not only labor, but also a piece of their souls. Handicrafts were close to extinction a while ago. Thank you for maintaining them. It is necessary not only to promote our culture among foreign visitors, but also to encourage our children as well», Shavkat Mirziyoyev has said.
The President has supported the proposal of masters to introduce folk crafts at schools. The responsible officials were given recommendations to increase tourist potential, effective use of cinematography for its promotion.
Last year Margilan city was awarded the status of the «World city of masters» in silk and ikat. The same status was granted to the cities of Bukhara (for gold embroidery) and Kokand (for wood carving).
