On August 10, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the new building of the Tashkent Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering.
During his visit on October 2020, the President instructed to create a construction cluster on the basis of the Institute. The reconstruction project of the Institute was expanded and refined.
Primarily, two 5-story academic buildings and an 8-story administrative building were built for the Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering. It has included a research center for construction materials, laboratories, a sports complex and a dormitory.
During today’s visit the President has got acquainted with the fruitful work and activities of the Institute.
The Institute includes four faculties and 23 departments. There are 22 bachelor’s and 25 master’s degree programs. Taking into account modern requirements, such directions, as designing the infrastructure of «smart» houses and cities, labor protection and safety engineering, earthquake engineering are included in the educational program.
As the new buildings are built, the scale and quality of the educational process shall increase. More than 1,6 thousand quotas are allocated for 2022/2023 academic year. As a result, the total number of students will exceed 7.5 thousand.
The President has had a conversation with students, doctoral students and professors at the Institute.
«Whatever sphere we start reforming, we begin with creating a school and training staff. This Institute shall become a base for the future fruitful work», Shavkat Mirziyoyev has said.
Therefore, it was stressed that educational programs must meet modern demands.
«At present, the construction sector is one of the country’s economic drivers. The construction is carried out everywhere, various materials are produced. However, the knowledge we have today will not be enough in five years. Therefore, you should always keep working, investing in yourself. What kind of investment? To master your profession completely, to learn languages, to work and gain experience», the President has said.
During the meeting, the students informed about the conditions created at the Institute and shared their plans.
The President supported their ideas and gave instructions to the responsible officials. The need to organize students’ internships at the design institutes and construction organizations and to form orders for their scientific work was emphasized.
On July 6 this year during the videoconferencing session on urban planning the President has noted the issue of staff training and had stated that it was necessary to transform the higher education establishments in this field and make them academically and financially independent.
Accordingly, the reform of the organization and management system of the Institute has been launched. It is planned to specialize the university in the field of mechanical engineering, architecture, construction technology and building materials, digital construction. This year it is planned to introduce a system «Digital University» and from the next academic year the entrance exams shall be held twice a year on the basis of international standards.
