An extraordinary session of the Kashkadarya Regional Kengash (Council) of People’s Deputies was held in Karshi.

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended this event.

«On October 11, 2021 at the pre-election meeting, we together with you have set key tasks for the development of Kashkadarya and improving people’s living standards over the next five years. Yesterday I have travelled around Kashkadarya from morning till evening, met with people and tried to understand whether people believe in our plans and feel the changes. How to achieve this? A selfless leader who loves the people and unites them is needed. When a dedicated khokim (governor) comes in, the people feel it immediately», the President has said.

The President has emphasized the urgency of focusing on domestic capabilities and using them effectively in the current difficult times.

«If there is a smart leader, there is a visible result. It is not easy to be the leader of Kashkadarya Region -- the region with a population of more than 3.5 million people. To find such a leader is difficult, as well. Kashkadarya is famous for rich subsoil, fertile land and hard-working people. It is only necessary to unite people, to lend them a shoulder and to work diligently. The people do help a khokim (governor) to assert himself, since their well-being is a reflection of his work. If local deputies, the elderly and the whole community have a sense of involvement, the development of Kashkadarya shall accelerate», Shavkat Mirziyoyev has said.

During the session, the organizational issue was considered. Azimov Murojon Berdialievich, acting khokim (governor) of Kashkadarya Region since last November, was recommended for the post of the head of the region by the President.

M.Azimov was born in Kitab District of Kashkadarya Region in 1976. He worked as a Prosecutor of Bukhara Region, as a Deputy and the First Deputy Prosecutor General, and as a chairman of the State Customs Committee.

The people’s deputies, labor veterans, women and the youth delivered their speeches in support of the candidate. Murotjon Azimov was approved as a khokim (governor) of the Kashkadarya Region by a vote.
