On March 24, as part of the events of the Tashkent International Investment Forum, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the President of the Asian Development Bank Masatsugu Asakawa.
At the beginning of the meeting, Masatsugu Asakawa has sincerely congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the successful holding of the Investment Forum, which had brought together the heads of high-profile international financial institutions and business representatives.
The topical issues and promising directions for strengthening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the ADB were considered.
The President has sincerely congratulated the ADB President on his recent reelection and paid a special tribute for the assistance rendered in promoting the reform program in New Uzbekistan, including in coping with the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
The dynamic development of bilateral relations was welcomed. The project portfolio has doubled in recent years and now exceeds $9 billion. The rate of assimilation of joint project investments has also doubled.
The Bank’s technical support to the irreversible reforms in our country, including in terms of ensuring the macroeconomic stability, the financial sector, modernizing energy, transport and infrastructure, as well as holistic development of human capital, was highly appreciated.
At the meeting, a special attention was paid to the preparation of a new program of full-scale cooperation between Uzbekistan and the ADB.
As the priorities of interaction were identified the accelerated introduction of «green economy», development of mixed financing project mechanisms, expansion of business funding programs, including women and youth entrepreneurship, introduction the effective PPP mechanisms, support of education and health projects.
It was agreed to adopt a joint «road map» to promote the priority areas of the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the Asian Development Bank.
