On December 6, an official meeting ceremony of the President of Uzbekistan took place at the Akorda Residence.
A guard of honor were lined up for a high guest. The national anthems of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan were performed.
The Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, saw a guard of honor and introduced the members of official delegates to each other.
Then, the face-to-face talks of the Presidents were held.
During the meeting, which was in a warm and trustful atmosphere, the Presidents considered a wide range of issues of the multifaceted Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan partnership, including in political, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, and exchanged views on the international and regional agenda.
The President of Kazakhstan, greeting the Leader of Uzbekistan, congratulated him once again on a resounding victory at the presidential elections and wished successes in the future activities. The President of Kazakhstan also noted the significance of this visit.
“We welcome you with a great pleasure in Kazakhstan on a state visit. It plays an important role to take the cooperation to a new level. The package of the documents to be signed today will render further impetus to a partnership. We have agreed to assign our governments to undertake the most energetic measures for the achievement of the set tasks. We believe that relations between our countries are major factors in providing stability and security in a whole Central Asian region”, noted Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, thanking for an invitation, has noted that this meeting is being held on the eve of the 30th anniversary of independence of Kazakhstan, and on behalf of Uzbek people had heartily congratulated the fraternal people on this significant event and wished them peace, prosperity and new victories.
It was underscored that under the leadership of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev Kazakhstan is now continuing a profound work started by the First President, Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev and confidently moving along the path of steady development.
The Leader of Uzbekistan noted with satisfaction a high dynamics of the relations of friendship and good-neighborliness between the brotherly states.
“Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are natural economic partners. Our economies are not competing, but they fulfill each other. The mutual trade is growing. It is expected that, the trade turnover will reach a record level of $4 billion this year. The volume of auto and railway traffic is growing. The air services have been fully restored and new routes are being opened. Our leading enterprises successfully extending the cooperation. In recent years, the number of joint ventures and projects has increased six-fold in almost all sectors of the economy”, said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The sides have especially noted the progress of trade-economic cooperation, where the direct contacts between regions and business circles of both countries play an important role.
Prior to the President’s visit to Kazakhstan, a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and Forum of Regions led by the Prime Ministers was held in Turkistan. The other day, a Business Forum was successfully held in the capital city of Kazakhstan. As a result of these events, the agreements and contracts for $6 billion were signed.
Production of cars, busses and agricultural machinery has been established in Kostanay. The modern textile companies and production of household equipment were launched in Turkestan and Shymkent. The projects are being carried out in Uzbekistan with Kazakhstan partners in the energy, industrial, chemical, food and construction sectors.

The cooperation in humanitarian sphere is enhancing actively. The Kazakhstan Film Days were successfully held as a part of the revived Tashkent International Film Festival. This week, the Uzbekistan Film Days will be held in the capital city of Kazakhstan.
The regular Consultative meetings of the heads of states showed their effectiveness. A unique venue for an open and trustful dialogue was formed.
Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan also cooperating in the frameworks of UN, CIS, SCO, OEC, Organizations of Turkish States and other structures.
“Today we will make a historic decision to bring the bilateral strategic partnership to the level of Allied relations. This will be crucial for the sustainable development, stability and prosperity not only of our countries but of the region as a whole. We are committed to strengthening the relations of friendship and good-neighborliness with fraternal Kazakhstan”, said the President of Uzbekistan.
The leaders also exchanged views on the topical regional and international issues of mutual interest.
During the meeting, the sides have reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the relations of friendship and good-neighborliness between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
