The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will take part at the anniversary meeting of the Council of Heads of States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to be held on September 16-17 in th capital city of the Republic of Tajikistan – Dushanbe.
The summit, chaired by the President of Tajikistan, will be attended by the leaders of the SCO Member States – the Republic of India, the Republic of Kazakhstan, People’s Republic of China, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Russian Federation.
The heads of the Republic of Belarus, the Islamic Republic of Iran and Mongolia will be invited as observers. The Turkmen leader was invited as an honorary guest of the meeting.
The event will also be attended by heads of SCO executive bodies and other international institutions.
According to the agenda, the participants will review the main outcomes of the SCO’s activities over the past 20 years and discuss current issues of multilateral cooperation. They will also exchange views on global politics and the regional agenda.
At the end of the summit, the Dushanbe Declaration will be adopted. The resolutions of the heads of states and other multilateral documents on expanding multifaceted cooperation within the Organization will be signed. The transfer of the SCO chairmanship to the Republic of Uzbekistan will be an important event.
In addition, the program of the President of Uzbekistan includes a number of bilateral talks with the leaders of partner countries, as well as participation in a meeting in the format of the «SCO-CSTO» (‘Shanghai Cooperation Organization - Collective Security Treaty Organization’) on the situation in Afghanistan.
