On August 25 the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mahmood Qureshi.

President has noted with deep satisfaction the dynamic development of the Uzbek-Pakistani relations of multifaceted cooperation. The summit talks held in July this year in Tashkent have marked the beginning of a new stage in bilateral cooperation based on the principles of strategic partnership.

The Foreign Minister Mahmood Qureshi has not only conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan, but also expressed sincere gratitude for the active efforts of the leader of Uzbekistan to ensure stability and prosperity in the region.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the issues of practical implementation of the agreements reached at the top level.

A special attention was paid to the development of the situation in Afghanistan. The importance of continuing close inter-agency contacts and exchanges on aspects of ensuring regional security was emphasized.

The commitment was also confirmed to further joint promotion of the project for the construction of the Termez-Mazar-i-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar railway.
