The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in the city of Turkmenbashi on August 5 at the invitation of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Esenmyrat Orazgeldiyev and other officials met the President.
As it was reported earlier, tomorrow, on August 6, the next Consultative Meeting of the Heads of States of Central Asia will take place in the National Tourist Zone «Avaza».
The initiative to hold regular summits of leaders of Central Asian countries was put forward by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in 2017 at the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly. All the neighbors of Uzbekistan have supported it. The first summit took place in March 2019 in the capital city of Kazakhstan Nur-Sultan and the second in November 2019 in the city of Tashkent.
At the next meeting, the results of the implementation of previously reached agreements will be considered. The participants will discuss the issues of stable and sustainable development in the region, increasing trade, creating favorable conditions for partnership in the energy sector, expanding cooperation in the transport and communications field, consolidating efforts to combat the pandemic and others.
It is expected that in his remarks, the Leader of Uzbekistan will voice a number of initiatives aimed at further strengthening the relations of friendship and good-neighborliness, mutual trust and support, and will outline the new promising areas of regional interaction based on common long-term interests.
As a part of the Summit, it is expected to hold a meeting of the Women Leaders’ Caucus, the Economic Forum of Central Asia, an exhibition of national products, a festival of dishes of national cuisines, as well as a gala concert of art masters from the countries of the region.
