The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will participate at the regular Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia on August 5-6 this year at the invitation of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. It will be held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone in Turkmenistan.
The President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov and the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon will also attend the event, chaired by the President of Turkmenistan.
The Presidents will consider the results of the agreements implemented following the Consultative Meeting held in Tashkent in November 2019.
The agenda also includes the issues of stable and sustainable development in the region, increasing trade, enabling favorable environment for partnerships in the energy sector, expanding cooperation in the transport and communications sphere, consolidating efforts to combat the pandemic, and others.
It is expected that the President of Uzbekistan will voice a number of initiatives aimed at further strengthening the relations of friendship and good-neighborliness, mutual trust and support, and will outline new promising areas of regional interaction based on common long-term interests.
At the end of the Summit, a number of important multilateral documents will be adopted, including the Joint Statement of the Presidents.
It is envisaged that the President of Uzbekistan will also hold bilateral meetings with the Presidents of Central Asian states.
As a part of the Consultative Meeting, it is planned to hold a meeting of the Women Leaders’ Caucus, the Economic Forum of Central Asia, an exhibition of domestic goods, a festival of national cuisines, as well as a gala concert of masters of the arts from the countries of the region.
It should be noted that the President of Uzbekistan has put forward the initiative to hold consultative meetings in 2017 during his participation in the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The first Summit of the Presidents was held in March 2018 in the capital city of Kazakhstan, Nur-Sultan, and the second took place in the city of Tashkent in November 2019.
