The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Imran Khan held the negotiations in a narrow format.
The President noted that the first visit of the distinguished guest to Uzbekistan was opened the new era of the bilaterial partnership.
«Pakistan is our time-honored and reliable partner. The relations between our States are based on mutual respect and trust. Today we are raising them to the new level of strategic cooperation. In spite of the current difficult situation, our cooperation is developing at the dynamic rates. We are interested in the further expanding ties in all the areas». Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
Having expressed the satisfaction with his stay in Uzbekistan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan noted that it was his first foreign visit after beginning the pandemic.
The meeting focused on strengthening the political dialogue and expanding trade and economic cooperation, especially in the field of investment and the implementation of the major regional infrastructure projects.
In recent years, the bilateral dialogue and contacts have noticeably intensified. The meetings of Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Imran Khan in Beijing and Bishkek in 2019, the online summit of leaders has been opened up the new prospects for interstate cooperation in April this year. As a result of the mutual visits at the level of governments and regions, the bilateral relations are filled with the practical content.
The agreement was reached on the regular political consultations which were maintained a dialogue at the top and high level at the meeting. It is proposed to develop a strategic cooperation Program for the full-scale development of interaction.
During the exchange of views on topical issues of the regional and international agenda, the coincidence or proximity of the positions of the sides was confirmed.
Both countries support each other in the international arena. Contacts within the framework of the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation are contributed to strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
It was emphasized that Uzbekistan and Pakistan, as close neighbors of Afghanistan, are interested in the establishment of peace and stability in this country, which will be contributed to the formation of transport routes and accelerated development of trade and economic ties in the region.
The issues of increasing the mutual turnover, establishing the air cargo transportation, providing the mutual benefits and preferences were discussed.
The issues of ensuring the regional security, strengthening military-technical cooperation were also considered.
Imran Khan expressed his gratitute for the warm hospitality and invited the President of our country to visit Pakistan.
