On June 23, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmon.

The Presidents of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan discussed the topical issues of further deepening the Uzbek-Tajik relations of strategic partnership and the development of regional interaction.

The importance of the practical implementation of the arrangements reached and the agreements signed following a top-level visit to Tajikistan on June 10-11 this year was noted. A particular attention is paid to promoting the joint cooperation projects in trade, industry, energy, agriculture, transport and other sectors of the economy, as well as cultural and humanitarian exchange programs in accordance with the adopted «road maps».

The Leaders exchanged views on the regional security issues and stressed the need to continue close dialogue and coordination of efforts to ensure stability and strengthen the good-neighborly relations in Central Asia.

A schedule of the forthcoming multilateral events, including events in the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and other international structures were also considered.
