The face-to-face talks between the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan took place at the Kuksaroy Residence.
At the beginning of the meeting, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev once again has congratulated Sadyr Japarov on his election as President of the Kyrgyz Republic and expressed his support for the efforts to ensure a peaceful life and well-being of the Kyrgyz people.
During the meeting, which took place in an open and friendly atmosphere, the heads of states expressed their appreciation for the current level of bilateral relations. The leaders discussed a wide range of issues for the further development of cooperation in political, trade, economic, transport, communication and other areas.
The presidents reaffirmed their determination to strengthen the strategic partnerships based on equality and mutual benefit, as well as their commitment to the implementation of previously adopted documents. An agreement was reached on maintaining a regular political dialogue at the top and high levels in order to progressively enhance the cooperation in all directions.
The historical significance of the Treaty on the Uzbek-Kyrgyz State Border signed on September 5, 2017 was emphasized. The Intergovernmental Commission was instructed to intensify the negotiations for the expeditious completion of delimitation the remaining border areas between the states.
An exchange of views on the regional and international agenda also took place, during which the sides confirmed the convergence of positions on the most topical issues.
The President of Kyrgyzstan expressed support for the efforts of Uzbekistan to strengthen cooperation and integration in Central Asia, as well as the initiative of our country to hold the Consultative Meetings of the Heads of States of the region. The sides noted the importance of holding the Third Meeting within the format in 2021.
The importance of achieving solutions on the entire range of intraregional issues in Central Asia by the states of the region themselves was emphasized, which will be on the basis of mutual benefit and respect for each other’s interests.
A mutual desire to develop cooperation in the international arena was expressed, including the cooperation in the framework of the United Nations, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States and other international structures.
Sadyr Japarov expressed his gratitude to Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the warm hospitality and friendly welcome extended to the Kyrgyz delegation and invited the President to visit the Kyrgyz Republic.
