On February 26, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

At the beginning of the conversation, the Head of our State has warmly congratulated the President of Turkey on his birthday, sincerely wishing him a sound health and great success, as well as peace, well-being and prosperity to the brotherly people of Turkey. The role of President Erdogan in ensuring the sustainable development of Turkey at the present stage and increasing the country’s authority in the international scene was highlighted.

During the conversation, the sides discussed topical issues of the bilateral and regional agenda.

The leaders mantioned with satisfaction that regular contacts at the highest level contribute to maintaining high rates of Uzbek-Turkish multifaceted cooperation during the challenging conditions of the pandemic.

The President of Uzbekistan once again expressed gratitude to his colleague for the support and practical assistance provided by the Government of Turkey in the fight against the spread of coronavirus infection in our country.

The implementation of priority joint projects in the field of trade, industry, energy, infrastructure, transport, agriculture, educational, cultural and humanitarian exchange programs were also considered at the meeting.

The importance of further creating favorable conditions for the growth of mutual trade and investment, including the early preparation and adoption of the Preferential Trade Agreement was highlighted. Cooperation is intensifying on the study and implementation of advanced Turkish experience in improving the investment climate, advancing the industrial development of regions and effectively organizing the activities of special economic zones.

The Heads of States highlighted the importance of implementing a number of significant projects in the field of education, cinematography, culture and tourism.

The leaders also discussed the schedule of the upcoming bilateral and multilateral events and contacts at the high and highest levels, including the preparations for the upcoming summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization.

The conversation between the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkey was held in a traditionally open, friendly and trusting atmosphere.
