President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Bunyodkor makhalla (local residential neighborhood area) in Namangan on February 19.
The situation here is deplorable: there is no drinking water, the internal roads are in a poor condition, the surrounding area is not landscaped. Waste is scattered behind the dilapidated building of the makhalla residents’ assembly.
The head of state met with the chairman and his adviser.
- You have to unite people, set an example for others. After all, you are in charge here! You are Muslims! Is it possible to plant trees or not? To take away the garbage? To whitewash the wall? Does it take a lot? We give full attention to makhalla, provide it with so many opportunities! How are you going to be reformers in such a situation, how are you going to lead the people?, - Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
The President also accounted the khokim (governor) of the city of Namangan and the city attorney - the head of the sector to whom this makhalla is assigned.
- You give high-sounding reports. How does your conscience allow you to hold a position?! 12 thousand people live in this makhalla. Look around - this is your face, - the head of state said.
There also was a conversation with local residents. One of the representatives of the older generation said that there is no drinking water, natural gas or any enterprises in the makhalla, and the roads need to be repaired.
- That’s why I came, - the President said.
The responsible persons were instructed to lay the necessary engineering networks to the makhalla and improve the living conditions.
