President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will take part in the opening ceremony today of the Tashkent Metallurgical Plant in the Yangihayot district.

The giant enterprise is of great importance for the national economy, since the ferrous metallurgy in our country has been in a rather poor condition. The new enterprise will produce 500 thousand tons of zinc and polymer coated metal sheets a year. Today, the demand for these products is met mainly by imports.

The new mill is expected to make a significant contribution to import substitution and boost localization level across sectors of the economy. The company is expected to export products worth $ 90 million a year. The complex will provide jobs for about 700 people. In general, together with related industries, 5,000 new jobs will be created.

The factory construction began in February 2017, and it cost $ 420 million.

Following the opening ceremony, the President will get acquainted with production processes at the enterprise.
