Continuing his working trip around Tashkent, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has visited the new campus of the Tashkent Architecture and Construction Institute, being built in the Yunusabad district.
Construction works began this July. Two five-storey educational blocks, an eight-storey administrative building and a four-storey dorm are to be erected here.
Today, more than 5.4 thousand students are enrolled at this institution. As a result of the transition to a credit-modular system from the 2020/2021 academic year, students are offered courses in 18 bachelors specializations and 23 graduate programs. In order to have future builders master modern knowledge and skills, new curricula have been included in the program, such as designing smart houses and urban infrastructure, occupational health and safety, earthquake resistance of buildings, among others.
Once the Institute moves into the modern new campus, more applicants are expected to be admitted and the quality of learning will apparently perk up.
“Lately, construction industry in our country has been thriving, with more modern buildings, cozy factories, housing. So has the demand for architects, designers, builders and so forth. It is essential thus that we train highly qualified specialists who meet the requirements of the contemporary construction industry,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev insisted.
The head of state also called at the 8th bus depot next to the Institute. The President proposed to relocate the company to establish a research center for building materials in its premises.
“This area should become a builders’ block,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
The President noted that social facilities will be created for faculty of the Architecture and Construction Institute, specialists of the research center and their families.
