While in Sardoba district, the President has met with public figures of Syrdarya region and victims of the flood.
The head of our state noted that he was glad to have the opportunity to talk with people in such a contented mood, in high spirits.
“Over the past five months, we all passed the strength test. We have worked hard shoulder to shoulder and restored the living conditions, built new houses and roads. It is very pleasant to see the results of this work today. But the mood of people is what delights the most and adds strength to me,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
The dam breakthrough at the Sardoba reservoir earlier this year caused serious damage to residential buildings, social facilities and agricultural land. A government commission was set up to use all forces and means to eliminate the consequences of the disaster. Residents of the flooded mahallas were evacuated to safer areas, provided with shelter and food. The Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Water Resources, the Ministry of Defense, law enforcement agencies, construction and repair organizations and local authorities acted in concert, thanks to which life here returned to normal within a short span of time.
Three new quarters were built in the area. Kindergartens and schools, vocational colleges and healthcare institutions have been erected and/or renovated.
“From the very first days we have chosen the satisfaction of people with government work as our main motto, our key goal. To be sure, achieving this objective is not easy, but we do keep working hard. The construction works and overall transformation in Syrdarya will not stop here. We have great plans in this regard,” the President concluded.
Following the meeting the head of state left Syrdarya for Tashkent.
